Martin Jenkins
Over the past sixteen years, Martin has improved the risk profile of around fifty power plant construction sites and dozens of operational ones. He has done this by completing risk-engineering surveys for insurers, re-insurers and power companies on the construction, erection and commissioning, and the operation and maintenance of power projects all around the world. He has experience in most types of power generation technology including renewables such as hydro, wind and solar power technologies, as well as combined cycle gas fired plants, boilers and steam turbines.
Most of this work has been on projects where the power generation equipment was supplied leading equipment manufacturers. Project values have ranged several hundred million to three billion US dollars with their capacities up to 3 GW. Other insurance work has included technical support, failure investigations and reports on boilers, turbines, generators, generator transformers and other plant and equipment. He has also worked directly with plant owners on engineering risk management, risk reduction programmes and asset management. Martin has a very good understanding of the latest risk control techniques, power generation technologies and fire-fighting systems.
Before becoming an independent engineer, Martin had executive capacity as the Engineering Manager of a UK power generation company and the de facto asset manager of a fleet of six 660 MW turbo-generators and six gas-turbines.
Martin holds an honours degree (First Class) in Mechanical and Environmental Engineering, a Certificate in Management and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Chartered Management Institute
