The session included studies from the past to the present in the presentation on obtaining and using hydrogen, which is expected to play a critical role
among decarbonisation targets within the framework of the climate crisis. The role of governments and institutions within the framework of this
transformation, which includes more than just technological and technical aspects, was discussed, as well as the strategy to be established and the
actions that can be taken in the short term. In this context, both the historical example of gas-to-natural-gas conversion and the European
Union's recent Hydrogen Strategy were discussed.

İskender Gökalp received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ITU in 1974, as well as his Master's and Doctorate degrees in 1981 from Sorbonne University. He has been a senior researcher at the French National Institute for Academic Research since 1983, in addition to working as an assistant and lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. He was appointed Director of the Orleans Combustion and Reagent Laboratory in 2003 He established ICARE (Institute of Combustion, Aerothermal Sciences, Reactivity, and Environment) in 2007, and served as its Director until 2016 He founded the French Centre for Chemical Kinetics, Clean and Reliable Energy Aerothermodynamics, and Propulsion Systems in 2011 and served as its Director until 2016 As Professor Doctor, he is currently employed as a lecturer and researcher at METU's Mechanical Engineering Department.
